Clarence Valley Council's Focus - The Crime Prevention Plan strives to reduce crime and increase community safety, focusing on at-risk target groups and localities and those groups and individuals that have already been associated with crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Home Secure Pilot Project aims to assist residents to feel safer at home and reduce the incidence of break and enter by raising awareness of measures home owners and residents can take to increase the security of their property.
Carrying out a home security assessment can reduce the risk of break in to your home. Use these checklists to ensure you have considered your security options:
Live in Yamba or Grafton? Home Secure is offering Grafton and Yamba residents assistance to conduct a home security assessment should they experience a break and enter and report it to police. Take up this offer and you may find you are eligible for a $200 rebate for items you purchase and install to reduce the risk of repeat break in.
Marking Your Property - It can be devastating when items such as jewellery, phones, computers and bikes are lost or stolen. NSW Police recommend marking your property to deter thieves and increase the likelihood of lost or stolen items being returned to you. Find out how now.
From March Clarence Valley libraries will have 10 Property Marking Kits available for loan as part of the Home Secure Pilot Project. Each kit contains a hand-held engraver and guidelines for marking and keeping records of personal property. The guidelines include information on creating a unique code which is identifiable only to you and keeping records of valuables that are unable to be engraved. Kits will be available to library members for periods of three weeks. If you’re not a library member, join now by visiting your local branch in Grafton, Maclean, Yamba or Iluka or go online to www.crl.nsw.gov.au.
