People with disability
To address the needs of local people living with a disability, Council developed a Disability Action Plan to improve access to services and facilities through strategies that cover:
- Governance and Leadership
- Information and Communication
- Planning and Development
- Leisure, Recreation, Business and Community Support Services

Council also has two longstanding Access Committees with members who have a range of disabilities, including hearing and vision impairments or mobility difficulties. The committees advise Council on the major access barriers and raise awareness of the needs of people living with a disability.
Improved Access = Improved Business!
The Missed Business Campaign is an initiative of Council's Access committees working with businesses to improve access for people with disabilities. A guide for business owners on how to attract more customers is available. Click for a brochure of handy tips (PDF 1.26MB).
