Supporting sport and recreation in the valley

Council supports two Sports Committees in the Clarence Valley. The Clarence and Lower Clarence Sports Committee's make recommendations to Council for the annual allocation of funds (currently $35,000 each - applications open in February each year) for worthy sports projects of a capital nature. The Sports Committees also provide a structure for supporting the activities of sport and recreation organisations.

Sports Committee Meetings

Sports Committee meetings will be held at the Council Chambers at Grafton and Maclean on the following dates and times.  Any changes or additional meetings will be noted below when known.

Membership is available to the Sports Committees for all sports, as stated in their adopted Constitutions.  The Sports Committees meet every 3 months, or may call an Extraordinary meeting as required.

The 2011 Sports Facilities Plan identifies Recommended Actions for capital investment for facilities where improvements can be made to support growth and development across sport in the Clarence Valley.  Sporting groups are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Plan and align potential projects with these Actions.
