Supporting sport and recreation in the valley
Council supports two Sports Councils being the Clarence (Upper Region) Sports Council and Lower Clarence Sports Council that provide a structure for supporting the activities of sport and recreation organisations.
The Sports Councils receive an annual allocation of $40,000 (for year 2010-11) each to be used to provide capital infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of sport and recreation. Applications are sought from affiliated organisations at the start of each financial year for projects. A contribution from the sporting organisations is required in either cash or in kind to match the Sports Council grant.
The allocation of funds is based on capital improvements to either infrastructure or to assist with upgrades or provision of facilities.
