Clarence Valley Council funding opportunities

Council values and acknowledges the contribution made by not for profit organisations and individuals in undertaking new initiatives.

The Community Initiatives Program and the Cultural & Sports Trust Fund supports local not-for-profit organisations and individuals to enhance the heritage, sporting and cultural life of the Clarence Valley.

Community Initatives Program

There are four (4) categories of funding: Rates, Fee Waiver, Cash and Education Insitutions (set amount per year for Awards Ceremonies only).

Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the Guidelines to assess your elegibility for funding and consult the Donations Policy before applying.

There are two online donation rounds per financial year :

  • Round 1 opens in February – applications will be decided at the June Council meeting; and
  • Round 2 opens in September – applications will be decided at the December Council meeting.

No out of round applications will be considered

NB: Organisations are permitted one successful application per financial year.
If you have multiple event dates, please submit all proposed dates on one application.

Cultural & Sports Trust Fund

There are two categories of funding per calendar year for individuals:

  • $250 per individual for selection at National level - i.e State competition; and
  • $500 per individual for selection at Internation level - i.e. selection to compete for Australia

The Acquittal is a written account of how funds received from the Community Initiatives Program have been spent.   All funds must be acquitted within six weeks of the initiative/event finishing.

NB: Future funding assistance may not be provided if previous donations are not acquitted.

Log into SmartyGrants.

Fill in the details under Login.  Please use the same email address and password you used in your application.  If you do not know the email address, contact the Community Projects Officers on  6642 0957 or email

If you have forgotten your password, click on “Forgotten your Password” and follow the instructions.

After logging in, click on ‘My Submissions’ at the top right of the screen.
Click on your relevant Acquittal Form, near the top of the screen.
Complete and submit your Acquittal Form.

All Acquittals are to be completed online via the SmartyGrants link.
