Local Government Elections 2021

The Local Government elections for the Clarence Valley Council were held on Saturday 4 December 2021.

Local government elections in NSW are held every 4 years. 


Voting is compulsory for people enrolled in the Clarence Valley Local Government Area.

If you are a resident of the Clarence Valley local government area, you can check if your enrolment details are current with the Australian Electoral Commission. You must enter your details exactly as they appear on the electoral roll. The Council does not hold electoral information for local residents.

If you are not a resident, you may still be entitled to vote if you own, occupy or lease property in the local government area as a corporation, business or individual.

Non-residential rolls are prepared by Council's general manager, and the NSW Electoral Commissioner will confirm the voters listed are eligible for enrolment on the non-residential roll. To be included on the Clarence Valley Council's non-residential roll, call us on 02 6643 0200 or email your details to council@clarence.nsw.gov.au

Councillor induction program

If you are elected as a member of the Clarence Valley Council, you must be available to attend induction and development sessions. Our induction program has been scheduled to provide the new council with a solid grounding in local government and Clarence Valley Council operations.

Attendance at induction and development sessions is reported annually.
