What's happening?

The aim of the upgrade to Yamba skatepark is to bring it up to a world-class standard.
It will see the existing skate area expanded to cater for beginner, intermediate and advanced shredders.

Forming the centre piece of the extension is a large clover bowl. It will be the key attraction to the facility offering corners and flow lines that compliment the existing linear half pipe.

Wrapping around the bowl are contemporary obstacles for all levels of skill and abilities.

The establishment of shade and seating for spectators to hang out and people to relax are included in the design.

The park will include public art and cultural heritage works.

We are improving safety features and fencing.

When's it happening?

  • Work starts 15 November
  • We anticipate work being completed by the end of March 2022

  • The new park will activate the Yamba CBD, encouraging locals and tourists to the park.
  • Located in the centre of Yamba it is set to become a cultural hub for local skateboarders and visitors alike.
  • The upgrade will celebrate the story and history of the Yaegl people on whose country it sits.
  • Inspired by the skateboarding culture this exciting development will create opportunities for young people, enabling them to develop advanced skills in the skate bowl.
  • This development takes sport to the next level by offering high class facilities that have never been seen before in the Clarence Valley.
  • Skateboarding is an art form, a lifestyle and a sport. It is based on individuality but forms part of the culture, identity, and the community of the coastal town of Yamba.
