People with disability

To address the needs of local people living with a disability, Council developed a Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan provides a guide to how Council will meet its responsibilities in regard to people with disability and the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014, by:

  • Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
  • Creating liveable communities
  • Supporting access to meaningful employment
  • Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes

Download a copy of Clarence Valley Council's Disability Inclusion Action Plan (PDF 1.04Mb) or email council@clarence.nsw.gov.au to request a printed copy to be sent to you.

Council also has an Access Committee to advise it on the major access barriers in the community and raise awareness of the needs of people living with a disability.  Community members and service providers are very welcome to nominate to become a member of the Access Committee.

Improved Access = Improved Business!

The Missed Business Campaign is an initiative of Council's Access committees working with businesses to improve access for people with disabilities.  A guide for business owners on how to attract more customers is available.  Click for a brochure of handy tips (PDF 1.26MB).
