Clarence Valley Council and partnering organisations are taking a proactive approach in response to the unfolding situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) and have made the decision to postpone Youth Week events and activities as a preventative measure to support the health and wellbeing of the community, volunteers and staff.

These events have currently been rescheduled to October/November, “The last thing we want is for our young people to miss out on celebrating their contributions to the community, if we can make the events happen later in 2020 we will do everything we can to make that happen,”  Council’s Youth Development Officer Allira Newton said.

Weekly drop-ins for Grafton, Maclean, Yamba and Iluka have also been postponed until further notice. This will be monitored as the situation develops and they will resume when it is seen as safe and appropriate to do so for our young people and the community.

“We recognise that community connections are important for our young people during this difficult and confusing time and with our partners we are working to develop and implement creative solutions online, by phone and on social media. Watch this space.”

The school holiday program will not be going ahead for April 2020 and the July 2020 program will be dependent on the COVID-19 situation at the time.
