Clarence Valley seasonal swimming pools to close early

As the news about novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop we continue to monitor NSW and Australian government advice as well as community trends. Due to falling visitor numbers, Councils seasonal pools in Grafton, Maclean and Glenreagh will be closing early.

General Manager Ashley Lindsay said, “Council’s seasonal pools have witnessed a decline in usage over the last couple of weeks with a number of schools and swimming clubs cancelling activities. As a result these pools will be closing on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd March – just over 2 weeks earlier than planned”.

Heated pools in South Grafton and Yamba will remain open at this stage.

“We’re monitoring the advice; there is no obligation to close swimming pools at this time. The pools in South Grafton and Yamba are following updated NSW and Australian Government health requirements and will remain open.”

Council’s general advice is to clean your hands regularly and to cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue. More importantly if you are unwell stay at home and seek medical attention: either call your GP or Healthdirect on 1800 022 222.

The community is encouraged to keep an eye out for updates from reliable sources such as advice issued by the NSW and Australian government.  For up-to-date information on Council facilities and services visit www.clarence.nsw.gov.au/covid19
