Household Asbestos Disposal

Clarence Valley Council is working in collaboration with North East Waste to offer Household Asbestos Disposal Kits to assist householders to safely and legally remove bonded asbestos in small home renovations (under 10m2 sheets of fibro).

The Household Asbestos Disposal Kits are partially funded by Council to reduce the costs associated with handling asbestos. (Disposal costs for asbestos will apply).

These kits will be sold at our Maclean and Grafton offices at the subsidised price of $20 and include disposable masks, coveralls and shoe covers, gloves, duct tape, pva glue Pakaflex asbestos bags, drop sheet and safety glasses.

Council advises residents to take caution and read the safety information on the North East Waste website.

Importantly, when dealing with asbestos:

Don’t cut it! Don’t drill it! Don’t drop it! Don’t sand it! Don’t saw it!
Don’t scrape it! Don’t scrub it! Don’t dismantle it! Don’t tip it!
Don’t waterblast it! Don’t demolish it!
And, whatever you do…Don’t dump it!
