Changes to water notice timings

We have changed the water billing cycle. From September 2020 bills will be issued three times a year, rather than quarterly. Water notices will now be issued every September, January and May.

Why now?

  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our water meter readers were unable to complete the scheduled May reading.
  • We chose not to issue an estimated bill due to the cost and decided to delay the reading of meters and the sending of the water rates notices.

When will I receive my next water notice?

  • The next water meter reading will happen in July, with water rates due in September.
  • Because the billing period covers an additional two months, customers can expect their water bills to be higher than they would otherwise have been.

Benefits

  • The break in our regular cycle gave us the opportunity to reassess the costs involved in reading the meters.
  • Issuing bills three times a year reduces the costs to ratepayers and enable us to focus on other community projects.

Will I be able to pay money towards my bill before I receive my next notice?

  • Yes. If you don’t want to wait until September, you are still able to pay something towards your water rates by using the biller code details on previous notices.
