Council wishes to acknowledge the outstanding cooperation of the sugar industry and all other stakeholders in the Lower Clarence to achieve these outcomes. Most of Council's infrastructure is located on private property, and it would not be possible to introduce new techniques for active floodgate management without the assistance of the Clarence Canegrowers Association, the NSW Farmers Association, the Clarence River Professional Fishermen's Association and local landowners, which together with state and federal government funding has ensured a more sustainable future for the Clarence floodplain.
