Australia Day Awards Winners 2021

Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners of the 2021 Clarence Valley Australia Day Awards.


And the Winners are…

Citizen of the Year – Hayley Talbot

Hayley was awarded the Clarence Valley Citizen of the Year Award for her passionate advocacy in the Clarence Valley. Hayley applied for and received a grant ensuring trees could be planted by the community post-bushfires to help regenerate koala habitat. She also runs a free volunteer safe space in Yamba for young women. Hayley loves to mentor young people with positivity for their future.


Young Citizen of the Year – Kalani Ives

Kalani was awarded the Clarence Valley Young Citizen of the Year Award for her dedication to training.  Kalani wants to become the next Indigenous Ironwoman and compete in the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman Series. She is a volunteer lifeguard at Yamba Main Beach, has two jobs; all while attending Maclean High School.


Local Hero – Scott Campbell

Scott, the Captain of the Lawrence Rural Fire Service, was awarded the Clarence Valley Local Hero Award for his amazing dedication in helping community members during the Nymboida fires of 2019 and his ongoing commitment to the Rural Fire Service. 

Community Achievement – Rebuild Nymboida Community – Nymboida Recovery Team

The Nymboida Recovery Team were awarded the Community Achievement Award for the amazing resilience shown by the community in setting up a recovery hub at the Nymboida Canoe Centre. An amazing and exceptional effort in local led community recovery.
