Local organisations and businesses have until 10 June 2022 to submit an application to Clarence Valley Council to be considered for the Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program.

The program aims to support the economic and social recovery of our regions through funding for eligible regional councils to deliver local community events, shows and festivals to boost tourism.

"The program will support regional communities such as the Clarence Valley to reconnect by helping to deliver exciting community events," Mayor Ian Tiley said.

"It will also facilitate economic recovery by supporting local businesses in the events, hospitality and accommodation sectors.

"There is less than one month left to make a submission, so we are urging community members to get this one in to Council before it's too late."

The program is open to events scheduled to take place from July 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Eligible events must be open to all members of the public, free to attend or incur a very small fee, and have a primary purpose of reconnecting communities and improving social cohesion.

Council will review the submissions and make a formal application on behalf of the applicants to the Department of Regional NSW by 24 June 2022. This is a competitive process, which may result in some submissions not being included in the final application for funding.

The $25 million Reconnecting Regional NSW - Community Events Program has been allocated from the NSW Government's $200 million Regional Recovery Package.
