Citizenship Ceremonies
The next Citizenship Ceremony will be held by invitation only in 2026 in the Council Chambers at 2 Prince Street, Grafton. This event will be coordinated by Clarence Valley Council staff.
The 2026 schedule for upcoming Citizenship Ceremony events is as follows:
- Monday 23 March
- Monday 22 June
- Monday 21 September
- Monday 16 November
Attendance at Council’s Citizenship Ceremonies is by invitation only.
To become an Australian Citizen you must speak with the Department of Immigration: 131 881.

What is the status of my applications?
Check the processing time of your citizenship application.
How long does it take until I can get my certificate?
If you have applied for Australian citizenship by conferral:
- 90% of applications are processed within 17 months.
- 90% of approved applicants will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony within 12 months of approval.
If you have applied for Australian citizenship by descent, 90% of applications are processed within 4 months.
If you have applied for Evidence of Australian citizenship, 90% of applications are processed within 38 days.
Can I get a new certificate sent to me? I have lost mine.
Yes, but only if you contact Immigration and follow the process, Council does not print or allocate certificates here at Council.
