Out of the Box
The CVC Out of the Box program consists of three purpose-built boxes (shipping containers), two of which are located in the Lower River, Wherrett Park Maclean and Yamba Skate Park. CVC contracts casual youth workers to support delivery of activities in these locations. The contractors facilitate after school sessions, which are held fortnightly, on a Wednesday at Wherrett Park in Maclean and Friday at Yamba Skate Park, and weekly on a Monday at the Coutts Crossing Skate Park between 3:30pm and 5pm. The Out of the Box youth sessions provide afternoon activities aimed at young people aged between 12 and 25. It is designed to provide a safe and respectful environment for young people to hang out, as well access information about services. The program has continued to grow over the last 12-months and attract regular young people and provide a safe inclusive space for young people in the community. We are looking forward to continuing this regular and consistent programming in the future, as it has proven to be very successful. Clarence Valley Youth Hubs (CVYH) is a New School of Arts (NSOA) service that connects and engages with local young people weekly at Coutts Crossing in a variety of ways.
