Community Initiatives Program

The Community Initiatives Program supports not for profit organisations to produce new or continuing projects and initiatives for the benefit of the Clarence Valley community. 

Funding categories

Cash Towards the costs of small projects/initiatives
Rates To cover the cost of general rates
Fee waiver To waive the fees of hiring Council venues
Schools $100 for awards nights only

Frequently asked questions - community initiatives program 

What categories can I apply for?

There are 4 categories: cash - rates waiver - fee waiver - educational institutions

First - check guidelines(PDF, 140KB) and policy(PDF, 118KB) for eligibility. 

Who can apply?

Incorporated organisations; groups with an abn/bank account or individuals (auspiced by an incorporated organisation) 


How many rounds per year?

2 Rounds: March to April and September to October 


Can I apply to both rounds?

No - you can apply in only 1 round each financial year. You may select multiple categories. You may have multiple projects / initiatives dates on the one application form. 


How much can I apply for?

The average amount funded is $1,000 per organisation 

When are the project / initiative dates?

Round 1 - start and end dates must be between 1 July and 30 June the following year.

Round 2 – start and end dates must be between mid December and 30 June the following year. 


When do applications close?

Round 1 – midnight on 30 April

Round 2 – midnight on 31 October 


Can I put in a late application?

Unfortunately late or out of round applications will not be accepted. 


When will I know the outcome of my application?

Applicants will be notified via email approximately 1-2 weeks after the June or December council meeting. 


 

Application & Acquittal Process

Step 1 Read Guidelines and Donations Policy To check the eligibility of your organisation and project/initiative idea before applying.
Step 2 Online Application Form via SmartyGrants Submit detailed information of your project/initiative + uploaded supporting documents.
Step 3 Online Acquittal Form via SmartyGrants Due 6 weeks after your project/initiative is completed + uploaded supporting documents.

How to fill in the Acquittal Form

Log into SmartyGrants (as above) with the same email address and password as your application. Click on ‘My Submissions’ at the top right of the screen to access your acquittal form.
