Pilot Hill

A grassy coastal headland offering spectacular 180 degree coastal views.  Vehicle access and parking is via Pilot Street, pedestrian access is via Pilot Street, and also links to Harbour and Queen Streets.

With its important maritime links, elevation above the town and varied history, the reserve that makes up Pilot Hill is managed by a several different authorities.  Council manages to sections of the reserve, one being the area next to the car parking off Pilot Street that overlooks Main Beach, the other being the Turners Beach lookout area.

The Water Reservoir is owned and managed by Council, the old lighthouse and cottages are managed by the Yaegl Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, the current lighthouse is owned and managed by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and the Pilot Station is managed by the Port Authority of NSW.

Pilot Hill is an Alcohol Prohibited Area 9pm – 9am.
