The previous building was constructed in the late 1960s when accessibility and environmental standards were not considered.

We have a responsibility to ensure that all members of the public, staff and Councillors can access all areas of the building in a safe and dignified manner.

Benefits of the project includes local procurement, employment and Aboriginal employment objectives which will help boost the local economy.

The new building will also:

  • Meet national construction standards for accessibility
  • Be smarter and energy efficient with more solar panels, LED lighting and improved insulation
