Clarence Valley Council is progressing planning and investigations for the Townsend Collective Community Precinct at 130 Jubilee Street, Townsend.

What’s happening?

The Townsend Collective is a proposed community precinct that will bring together a range of community, cultural, educational, recreational and social opportunities within a shared and inclusive environment. Developed through extensive community consultation and stakeholder engagement, the vision is to create a vibrant destination that fosters connection, collaboration and community pride across the Clarence Valley.

Council has completed preliminary concept planning and stakeholder engagement and is now progressing the technical investigations, approvals and consultant engagement required to inform future development and delivery of the precinct.

The proposed precinct includes community facilities, cultural spaces, recreational areas, shared pathways, public open space, landscaping, parking and supporting infrastructure. The project will continue to evolve through detailed investigations, design development and engagement with stakeholders and the community.

When is it happening?

The project is currently in the planning, investigation and design phase.

The Townsend Collective Masterplan has been completed and Council is now progressing the next stage of project planning. This includes preparing consultant briefs, engaging specialist consultants and undertaking the technical investigations required to support future approvals, detailed design and funding applications.

Upcoming work will include environmental, geotechnical, traffic, civil engineering, landscape, servicing and planning investigations.

Construction timeframes are yet to be confirmed and will depend on the outcomes of the technical investigations, approvals process, detailed design and future grant funding opportunities.
