Produced especially for owners of heritage properties, this leaflet answers commonly asked questions about listing.
The Icomos Burra Charter is a nationally recognised policy for the conservation and management of places of cultural significance. It sets a standard of best practice for those who provide advice, make decisions about, or undertake works to places of cultural significance, including owners, managers and custodians.
If you are proposing changes to a heritage item or within a heritage conservation area you may be required to prepare a Statement of Heritage Impact or a Conservation Management Plan as part of a Development Application, depending on the scope of the proposal. You are advised to seek advice from an appropriately qualified heritage specialist. A list of consultants is available through Heritage NSW website resources.
