Water Efficiency Working Group

Appointed by Council: February 2025
Functional alignment: Water Cycle
Membership appointed: TBA

Purpose

In general terms, this group oversees Coffs Harbour and Clarence Valley Council’s responsibility to harvest and supply water sustainably and efficiently, and to encourage efficient water use in the community.

Strategically guided, the water efficiency program helps ensure we:

  • maintain a healthy river ecosystem
  • provide a secure water supply
  • delay the need for more water storage, and
  • provide ongoing community education

Technically, the purpose of this committee is to provide advice and guidance about the Regional Water Efficiency Strategic Plan and to undertake an annual review of the Regional Water Efficiency Implementation Plan. The Water Efficiency Working Group is a committee that performs a statutory consultative role as part of the Shannon Creek Dam licence conditions, the Regional Water Supply Scheme and the CVC/Coffs Harbour Water Efficiency Strategic Plan. The committee helps ensure a united approach to water demand management between the two LGAs and communities. These meetings include reciprocal hosting between LGAs and site visits to water assets and have been valued by all involved.
