“It is with regret that I advise, Allison Bryant has formally tendered her resignation as a Clarence Valley councillor” Mayor Ray Smith stated on Friday 19 December. “Democracy requires councillors to represent community at the table of local government and is saddens me that Allison has decided this is no longer a role she wishes to fulfil.” Allison has been a strong advocate during her time as a councillor at Clarence Valley Council, for the timber industry as well as health, medical and other services for the general community. Allison was the councillor representative on the project steering group for the construction of the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre and has been a supporter of the delivery of all other major projects that benefit the community. “Allison’s contribution to Council meeting debate has been valuable and well-meaning and I have benefitted from her ongoing support as Mayor. She will be missed in the Chamber,”Mayor Ray Smith said. The General Manager will now progress the notification to the NSW Electoral Commission to commence a countback election.
