In the Clarence Valley, summer is a time to slow down, explore locally and make the most of everything our region has to offer. From beaches, pools and parks to libraries, galleries and school holiday activities, there are plenty of ways to enjoy summer close to home.

Library Programs

Clarence Regional Library offers a wide range of activities throughout summer for children, families and adults. From storytimes and creative sessions for kids to book clubs, film screenings and social groups for adults, there is something for all ages at your local library.

Libraries are located in Grafton, Iluka, Maclean and Yamba, and our Mobile Library regularly travels to villages across the Clarence Valley.

School Holiday Youth Program

Clarence Valley Council’s School Holiday Program offers a range of free activities for young people during the summer holidays. Activities include creative workshops, surfing, laser skirmish, fitness sessions and more, with options to suit different interests and energy levels.

Patrolled Beaches

Spending time at the beach is a big part of summer in the Clarence Valley. Swimming between the red and yellow flags, supervising children and checking conditions before entering the water helps keep everyone safe.

Visitors are encouraged to speak with lifeguards or surf lifesavers if unsure about conditions.

New Grafton Waterslides

The waterslides at Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre in Grafton are now open and provide a fun way to cool off during the warmer months. Suitable for both kids and adults, the slides are becoming a popular summer attraction.

Community Pools

Clarence Valley has community pools located in Yamba, Grafton, Maclean and Glenreagh, making it easy to cool off close to home.

Local Parks

Dog-Friendly Beaches and Parks

Many parks and beaches across the Clarence Valley are dog-friendly, and Council’s interactive map makes it easy to find locations near you. When visiting with your dog, please follow signage and dispose of waste properly so everyone can continue to enjoy these shared spaces.

Gallery Workshops

Grafton Regional Gallery offers school holiday activities for children, including clay workshops and illustration sessions, as well as regular workshops for adults. These programs provide an opportunity to get creative, learn new skills and connect with others over summer.
