Fixing Country Bridges

Council secured a combined $46 million under Rounds 1 and 2 of the NSW Government Fixing Country Bridges Program. This funding is allowing us to replace 36 timber bridges with safer, and more resilient concrete structures.

Due to the large quantity of concurrent works to be delivered by the program deadlines the bridges are being constructed by a combination of Council’s bridge crews and Contractors.

Bluff Bridge update: New bridge now open

One of the final projects in the Fixing Country Bridges Program, Bluff Bridge, is now open to the public, providing a more flood‑resilient Orara Way for local residents.

Billys Creek Bridge – Armidale Road, Billys Creek

  • Bridge being built off line.
  • New bridge deck complete.
  • Road approach works ongoing.
  • The new bridge is expected to be open to traffic in March, followed by demolition of the old timber bridge.
