New statewide Community Participation Plan comes into effect

A new statewide Community Participation Plan (statewide CPP) has come into effect from 1 September. The statewide CPP will apply to new development applications lodged as of 1 September 2026 and will prevail over Council’s adopted CPP from this date.

The statewide CPP standardises consultation and public exhibition timeframes for planning functions as required under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. It replaces more than 100 individual community participation plans and has been introduced to ensure consultation is clear and consistent across NSW and that everyone has an equal say on planning decisions, no matter where they live.

Council’s CPP is currently being reviewed and will be amended for consistency with the statewide CPP.
