Expression of Interests are invited from proponents with the capability, vision, and experience to enter into a lease for the operation of the canteen located within the Grafton Regional Livestock Selling Centre (Saleyards). It is expected that the successful applicant will be open for business as soon as practicable to provide service to the Saleyard staff and users. The lease will be for an initial period of one (1) year with the option to renew for a further three (3) years, if agreeable to Council and the successful proponent.
Clarence Valley Council (CVC) is seeking a canteen operator to provide a food service for a busy sales facility during livestock sales. The facility provides an integral service to the local Clarence Valley agricultural industry, the operator will be required to cooperate with saleyards staff and stakeholders to coordinate operations with the saleyards core business.
Grafton Regional Saleyards is a very active regional selling centre, hosting a range of livestock sales every week. The sale schedule can vary week to week, holding a minimum of 1 and up to 3 sales on a weekly basis. The canteen will be required to be open for operation during the sales while patrons are in attendance. Sales are scheduled Tuesday and Thursday, with special sales sometimes being held Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year.
The length of sales is dependent on cattle numbers, sales will commence at 9am and will come to a close between 1pm and 5pm. The canteen can operate outside of the sale time (e.g. 7am start) on sale days only. Customer numbers will fluctuate depending on the market. The canteen is an integral part of insuring patrons are comfortable for the duration of the sales.
